Description:

HKU Surveying Academy for the Talented is an exclusive one day-long programme designed for secondary school students who are interested in exploring the field of real estate development. HKU's Department of Real Estate and Construction launched the first integrated surveying undergraduate programme in the world, and designed it as a business and professional programme for students who want to join the field. It covers a full spectrum in the land development cycle, from land acquisition, project finance, planning and development, project and construction management, sales and marketing, real estate investment, facilities management, conservation, to urban regeneration.

Surveying Academy for the Talented includes a variety of hands-on activities, workshops, and seminars related to different surveying specialties. In this intensive programme, participants will experience various cutting-edge technologies adopted in different land development phases, such as Virtual Reality (VR), Modular Integrated Construction (MiC), Robotics, Mobile Lidar, and drones.  

Through this one day-long programme as a Surveying student in HKU, the participants will also gain insight into the career prospects of Surveyors and have the opportunity to interact with leading experts in the field. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the multi-disciplinary nature of the surveying profession.
  • Explore the essential roles of surveyors in the land development cycle.
  • Engage in hands-on activities, workshops, and seminars related to different surveying specialties.
  • Experience cutting-edge technologies used in land development phases, such as VR, MiC, Robotics, Mobile Lidar, and drones.
  • Gain insight into career prospects in surveying.
  • Interact with leading experts in the field.
  • Experience a day in the life of a surveying student at HKU.

Selection and Result Announcement: All applications will be assessed according to applicants’ individual calibre and potential. Application results and payment details will be announced to successful applicants via email.

*It is our firm belief that no student should be denied admission due to financial difficulties. Grant is available for students who can provide supporting documents issued by the Student Finance Office for receiving a full grant of Student Textbook Assistance Scheme or documents from the Social Welfare Department for obtaining CSSA. To apply, please select the specific programme on the system accordingly.
