Description:

This workshop provides comprehensive coverage of five different topics in the field of AI. The first topic deals with real-world AI applications and highlights the important role of AI in developing and improving the modeling of user behavior in recommender systems. The second theme looks at the immersive world of the metaverse and explores its potential to enhance and reshape our everyday experiences. The third theme looks at computer vision, covering fundamental concepts and techniques from both traditional geometric approaches and recent advances in deep learning. The fourth topic looks at the fascinating journey of Large Language Models (LLMs), tracing their historical context and evolution as indispensable tools for natural language processing. Finally, the workshop explores Wireless Sensing AI, a breakthrough technology that extends machine perception beyond vision by using AI to transform Wi-Fi devices into a versatile all-in-one sensing platform.

Learning Objectives:

  • Provide participants with a solid understanding of how LLMs have evolved and the pioneering architecture that underpins them.
  • Encourage participants to engage in critical thinking and creative problem solving to explore the latest XR technologies and discover their diverse applications in various fields.
  • Provide participants with a fundamental understanding of computer vision by exploring the basic principles, techniques and approaches.
  • Introduce the wide-ranging applications of AI and its role in developing and improving user behavior modeling in recommender systems.
  • Explain wireless sensing AI and its ability to provide machines with perceptual capabilities that go beyond traditional camera-based computer vision.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to

  • Understand the evolution and transformative impact of LLMs in the processing and generation of human-like text.
  • Recognize and evaluate the potential impact of the metaverse on various aspects of daily life.
  • Understand the basic principles of image formation and representation, image processing, feature extraction and feature-based object recognition in computer vision, as well as some influential networks for image classification and object recognition.
  • Understand the role of AI in recommender systems and evaluate its impact on different domains.
  • Understand how AI technologies utilize Wi-Fi devices as a versatile sensing platform, enabling a new sense of machine perceptual intelligence beyond visual capabilities.
