Programme Description

This underwater robotics course will explore the practical applications of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) in the exciting field of the underwater world. We will guide students through the theory, concepts, and specifics of building their ROV as a team.

Students should have some essential physics, algebra, and trigonometry knowledge, and the course will be taught in either English or Chinese. This course teaches the basics of motion, force/reaction, and programming in sensors and 3D space. Students will be trained in engineering, testing, computational thinking and project management skills. In addition, students will be sponsored to take the computational thinking assessment test certified by Cornell University. They will be able to participate in underwater robotics competitions organised by local and international organisations, allowing students to participate in the challenge and demonstrate their underwater robots (ROVs).

The program emphasises active learning and the ability to complete projects independently.   We have also invited industry experts to give our students a sharing about the application of AI development now and in the future. Students can participate in the Intel Cyberport Air Land and Sea Competition.

To offer the best learning experience to children, we have partnered with the leading-edge technology Intel AI box to teach our students to design and develop their ROV. Immerse yourself in the cultures of the leading technology and R&D, seize this opportunity, and prepare to be tomorrow's innovator.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the basic concepts and the fundamentals of a robot.
  • Understand the importance of collaboration, communication, planning and preparation.
  • Learn the operational aspects of the modified PVC underwater robot, including control mechanisms.
  • Understand how to connect various hardware components to development boards for integrated functionalities.
  • Strengthen and apply computational thinking skills in problem-solving and optimization.
  • Gain practical experience through in-water operation of the modified robot.
  • Understand the principles behind power consolidation for efficient energy use

In this course, we have also invited the following expertise to speak to our students.

1) Industry expertise to give our students sharing about their investment in AI technology

2) Global recognized academic scholars will share their experiences in the area technology and engineering

3) University admission to speak about college application and preparation
