Cultural Food Workshop: Chinese Dim Sum/ Local Pastry

Activity Overview:

This hands‑on workshop offers you a unique opportunity to explore the techniques and traditions behind classic Hong Kong dim sum and local pastries. Under the guidance of experienced culinary instructors, participants will learn fundamental skills such as dough preparation, shaping, filling, and basic cooking methods commonly used in Chinese cuisine.

Through practical demonstrations and guided practice, participants will gain insight into the cultural significance of popular dim sum items and traditional local pastries, while developing an appreciation for craftsmanship and precision in culinary arts. This workshop is designed to be both educational and enjoyable, making it suitable for beginners who are interested in local food culture and culinary creativity.

Activity Fee: HKD 300 (Non-refundable application fee: HKD100)
Activity Time: 6:30-8:30pm HKT
Activity Venue: North Point (Round trip shuttle bus will be provided)
Meeting Point: Outside of HKU Main Building

  1. HKU Academy for the Talented (HKU AcT) reserves the right to postpone or cancel the event upon inclement weather conditions or if the Education Bureau of Hong Kong announces a suspension of schools.
  2. Places for each activity are limited and allocated on a first‑come, first‑served basis or according to selection criteria set by the HKU AcT. Submission of an application does not guarantee a place. The activity is subject to cancellation if there are insufficient applications.
  3. All students need to have valid travel and medical insurance as a mandatory condition for participation in our activities. HKU AcT shall not be held liable for any medical expenses incurred by participants, nor the loss, theft or damage of personal belongings.
  4. HKU AcT reserves the right to take photographs and video recordings during the event for promotional and archival purposes.
  5. All HKU AcT events are non-transferable, non-refundable, non-exchangeable and not for re-sale. In the event of disputes regarding these terms and conditions, HKU AcT reserves the right to make final judgment on the dispute.
