– English Requirement: Applicants are expected to meet the English language proficiency requirement, with an IELTS score of 6.5 or an equivalent qualification.

Programme Overview:
Calculus is a branch of mathematics that finds wide applications in science, economics and finance, engineering and many other areas. This is a first course in one-variable calculus.

Course Outline:  

  1. Pre-calculus topics (set theory, combinations and permutations, mathematical induction, binomial theorem, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions) 
  2. Limits and Differentiation with Applications 
  3. Indefinite and Definite Integrals with Applications

Learning Objectives:
On successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  3. Solve problems involving exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions 
  4. Evaluate limits and derivatives 
  5. Compute simple definite and indefinite integrals 
  6. Solve practical problems such as determining maxima and minima; finding area

Study Load:
36 contact hours + 40 learning hours

Assessment:
        • Assignments (10%) 
        • 2 tests (40%) 
        • Final examination (50%)

NO supplementary examination will be offered.

Notes to Participants:
Student participants are reminded to bring their own calculators for all tests and exams.
