Surveying Academy for the Talented – Exploring the Role of Surveyors in Shaping a Sustainable, Smart, and Healthy Built Environment
Programme Overview
Surveying is a multi-disciplinary profession, where different surveyors play essential roles in the land development cycle, from land acquisition, project finance, planning and development, project and construction management, sales and marketing, real estate investment, facilities management, conservation, to urban regeneration. The HKU Surveying Academy for the Talented is a two day programme designed for secondary school students who have an interest in pursuing a surveying career.
The two-day programme includes a variety of hands-on activities, workshops, site visits and seminars related to different surveying specialties. Participants will be provided exciting opportunities to experience various cutting-edge technologies adopted in different land development phases, such as Geospatial Information System (GIS), Virtual Reality (VR), Modular Integrated Construction (MiC), Robotics, Mobile Lidar, and drones.
It will also enable participants to gain insight into career prospects of Surveyors and allow them to interact with leading experts in the field. They will also get a taste of what it is like to be a Surveying student in HKU.
The programme also encompasses a team competition, enabling participants to play the roles of surveyors and tackle real-world development challenges within the built environment.
