HKU STEM Academy for the Talented 2024 (feat. a day in HKU and 4-day field trip in the Greater Bay Area)

Programme Dates: August 19-23, 2024 (Monday to Friday)

Target: S4-5 / Year 11-12 / 2025-26 September University Intake

Programme Fee:

HK$7,600 (Academy member)

HK$9,120 (Non-member)

The programme fee will cover:

  • Day 1 – programme and activities in HKU (programme arrangement only, meals and accommodation are not covered); and
  • Day 2 – 5 field trip in Greater Bay Area (cover transportation, meal, residence, and insurance arrangements. Personal consumption expenses are not included).

Eligibility:  

(1) S4-S5 

(2) Possessor of (a) HKID Card and (b) Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents which are valid and effective at both the date of the application and the programme dates. (Applicants are required to submit copies of the two said documents showing the effective dates.)

(3) Able to communicate in Cantonese and Mandarin

Programme Overview:

The field trip will provide participants with opportunities to visit various intelligent technology enterprises and exhibition venues in Shenzhen and Nansha. Through workshops, lectures, and exchanges students will gain an understanding of cutting-edge technology directions of intelligent technology development, intelligent technology features, enterprise characteristics, and technology talent policies in the Greater Bay Area.

Contents:

Day 1

Lecture and group activities at HKU main campus

Day 2 – 5

4-day field trip to the Greater Bay Area. The itinerary will focus on understanding the application and development of fields related to STEM.

  • Join Campus Tour at HKU Business School Shenzhen Centre.
  • Visit and communicate with technology enterprises and electricity company related to AI, computer management, robotics, energy and other technological innovations.
  • Attend hands-on workshop on robot experience with group competition.

Selection and Result Announcement: All applications will be assessed according to applicants’ individual calibre and potential. Application results and payment details will be announced to successful applicants via email.

 

*It is our firm belief that no student should be denied admission due to financial difficulties. Grant is available for students who can provide supporting documents issued by the Student Finance Office for receiving a full grant of Student Textbook Assistance Scheme or documents from the Social Welfare Department for obtaining CSSA. To apply, please select the specific programme on the system accordingly.
