Programme Overview:
This interdisciplinary event, organized in collaboration with HKU Academy for the Talented, Admissions Office, offers secondary students a unique opportunity to explore the Ancient Egypt exhibition at the HK Palace Museum. The day begins with a thematic talk on Arab culture and Global and Area Studies at HKU, followed by an Arabic lunch and a fully guided tour of the exhibition led by Amjad Refai. Designed for the HKU Academy for the Talented and partner schools, the activity connects academic learning with real-world cultural engagement, inspiring students to appreciate ancient civilizations and contemporary Arab heritage.

Programme Instructor:
Mr. Amjad Refai
Director of the Arabic Programme at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), is a seasoned educator and Egyptologist with over a decade of experience teaching Arabic language, culture, and ancient history. Prior to joining HKU in 2019, he lectured in Egyptology and served as Editor-in-Chief of The Heritage of Egypt Magazine. A dedicated scholar, he has developed HKU’s Arabic studies curriculum and authored textbooks on Arabic and ancient Egyptian language. His work bridges classroom learning with immersive cultural experiences, fostering deeper understanding of the Arab world and its heritage.
