– English Requirement: Applicants are expected to meet the English language proficiency requirement, with an IELTS score of 6.5 or an equivalent qualification.
– Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a selection interview.

For HKU Academy Members will receive an exclusive scholarship of HKD 9,000, which will be automatically deducted from the Programme Fee upon application.

Programme Overview:
The Global Medical Innovation & Biomedical Sciences Academy offers a multidisciplinary and international perspective on global health and biomedical sciences. It is designed to cultivate interdisciplinary competencies essential for future leadership in medicine and healthcare. 

This global medical programme provides students with a unique opportunity to engage with leading medical professors at HKU. Through interdisciplinary learning experiences, participants will develop critical skills required for success in future medical fields and will be well prepared for further studies and careers in healthcare and related disciplines. 

The programme integrates cutting-edge technologies, including AI in medicine, biomedical sciences, big data, and emerging medical innovations. In addition, students will have the exceptional opportunity to visit one of the world’s leading medical institutions in the UK such as University College London (UCL) gaining valuable international exposure in medical and biomedical fields.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the global health challenges, healthcare systems, and the social, economic, and environmental determinants of health. 
  2. Gain foundational knowledge in biomedical sciences. 
  3. Explore Medical innovation and technology, examine the role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and digital health in medicine.
  4. Build research and analytical skills, enhance critical thinking, data interpretation, and basic research skills relevant to biomedical and health sciences. 
  5. Gain global and academic exposure, engage with leading academics and institutions, gaining insight into international medical education pathways and careers.

Visa Application for Non-local Students (required for face-to-face programmes only):
Students without the right of abode in Hong Kong are required by law to obtain a student visa issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department (ImmD). Travel and Medical Insurance:
All students need to have valid travel and medical insurance as a mandatory condition for participation in our programmes. We strongly recommend that students secure their insurance policies well in advance of their departure to ensure continuous coverage.

*Programme Attendance Policies:
Students are highly encouraged to attend ALL classes on time for the duration of the Programme. Please note that according to the University’s attendance and absenteeism policy, at least 80% of the lectures and required classes for each curriculum must be attended.
