HKU Academy x UCL: Global Legal System 

Programme Overview:

The overarching aims of this programme are to offer students a unique opportunity to study Global Legal System at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and University College London (UCL). 

Through interactive lectures, case studies, and discussions, students will gain insights into both the Hong Kong and UK legal systems, developing critical thinking, advocacy, and cross-jurisdictional perspectives. The programme also includes networking opportunities and cultural experiences, providing a well-rounded introduction to global legal education. 

Learning Objectives: 

    • To understand key features of the common law legal system in England and Wales 
    • To understand the process of lawmaking in England and Wales, as well as the role courts play in interpreting the law 
    • To understand the role and value of access to justice and human rights principles in England and Wales 
    • To visit sites of historical and contemporary importance in legal London 
    • To work in small groups to prepare and deliver a presentation on one aspect of the legal system in England and Wales 
    •  To experience what it is like to be a law student at UCL Laws 
    •  To gain insight into possible careers in law

Programme Duration: July 2-4, 2025 (3 days) at HKU, July 7-11, 2025 (5 days) at UCL 

Target Audience: Academically high achieving Year 12 and 13 high school students (Secondary 5 – 6) between the ages of 16 – 17 

Tuition Fees: (Non-refundable Application fee: HKD 60) 

    • Non-members: HKD 62,000 
    • Members: HKD 56,000
