Mr. Fred Sheu

National Technology Officer, Microsoft Hong Kong Limited

As National Technology Officer at Microsoft Hong Kong, Fred Sheu supports policy decision and delivers technologically relevant and scalable solutions into Hong Kong market. His main objectives are to align IT value propositions to public policies in such areas as healthcare, education, the environment, and local social and economic development; and to promote a digital agenda in top policy areas, including innovation, security and privacy, technology, neutrality, accessibility, and interoperability.
Prior to Microsoft, Fred worked with Hewlett Packard (HP) Enterprise where he was the General Manager of Software for HPE Hong Kong. Fred is an active veteran in Hong Kong ICT industry, he serves in councils of Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS), itSMF Hong Kong Chapter and the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation (HKITF).
Fred graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Computer Science (Hon) degree.

Professor Lap-Chee Tsui

Founding President, Academy of Sciences of Hong Kong

Professor Lap-Chee Tsui is currently Founding President of the Academy of Sciences of Hong Kong, President of the Victor and William Fung Foundation, Director of Qiushi Academy for Advanced Studies and Master of the Residential College of International Campus, Zhejiang University. He is also the University of Toronto’s Emeritus University Professor.
He is the 14th Vice Chancellor of The University of Hong Kong, prior to which, he was Geneticist-in-Chief at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and University Professor at University of Toronto, Canada.
He received his Bachelor and Master degrees from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and his PhD from University of Pittsburgh. He is world renowned for his research work in human genetics and genomics, notably the identification of the gene for Cystic Fibrosis and other human genetic diseases while conducting a comprehensive characterization of human chromosome 7.
Professor Tsui has over 300 peer-reviewed scientific publications and 65 invited book chapters. He is the recipient of many national/international prizes, and is a Fellow of Royal Society of Canada, Royal Society of London and Academia Sinica. He is a Associate Member of the National Academy of Sciences USA, a Foreign Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is a Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Laureate. His other awards include 15 honorary doctoral degrees, the Orders of Canada and Ontario, and the Grand Bauhinia Medal and Gold Bauhinia Star, and Justice of the Peace from Hong Kong.

Mr. Alex Chui

Project Manager, NEC

Alex Chui holds a Bachelor Degree and Master Degree in Computer Engineering from Imperial College, University of London. He had participated in the development of various country scale products about smart resource planning, cryptographic, automation and biometric technologies. Being active in IT industry for over 10 years, he has extensive experience in IT security, electronic identity, electronic government, smart transportation, biometric, logistic optimization and finance. Before appointed as Project Manager in NEC, he had launched various international IT projects in domain of electronic document, transportation and finance with huge success. He is currently responsible for projects on smart travelling and electronic government services.

Dr. Anita Chi-Kwan Lee

Lecturer, Faculty of Arts and Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, HKU

Both an academic and media industry practitioner, Dr Anita Chi-Kwan Lee comes from an interdisciplinary background covering the fields of film and visual arts media, literary and cultural studies, and qualitative and quantitative research. Anita very much enjoys teaching across curricula and collaborating with faculty both within and outside campus.



Mr. Bill KP Chan

Lecturer, Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, HKU

Bill KP Chan is a Lecturer in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, The University of Hong Kong. He is also an admission tutor in the department. His research interests include discrete-event system simulation, simulation optimization, complex system modelling, simulation-based training and their applications in aviation, manufacturing, healthcare and logistics systems.


Dr. Data Ng

Co-Founder & CEO, Printact Limited

Dr. Data Ng is a biohacker, maker, and entrepreneur. He co-founded 42Lab which is a first portable biotech experiment platform for STEM education which is incubated and invested by SGInnovate in Singapore and Cyberport in Hong Kong. His projects won and featured in many competitions and hackathons like Alibaba Jumpstarter, HackTrain@MTR, National Challenge Cup, and HKSTP Elevator Pitch Competition.



Dr. Henry Lau

Associate Professor, Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, HKU

Henry Lau graduated from the University of Oxford with a bachelor degree in Engineering Science and a DPhil in Robotics. Prior to joining The University of Hong Kong, he worked in industry as a Systems Engineer and Manager at the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and AEA Technology plc., working on projects involving bespoke tele-robotics systems and advanced automation systems for industry in decommissioning and waste management. While working in England, Henry was a Croucher Foundation Research Fellow at the University of Oxford Robotics Research Group, and a visiting lecturer at Brasenose college, Oxford teaching Engineering Science. Henry’s research interest includes virtual reality technology, artificial intelligence and robotics. Henry is also the Warden of University Hall at HKU.

Dr. Kal Ng

Lecturer, Faculty of Architecture and Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, HKU

Kal Ng is a lecturer at the HKU Dept. of Industrial Engineering on VR technologies. He was graduated from HKU dept. of Architecture with a PhD in digital architectural animation and a M.Phil of Comparative Literature. He is also a filmmaker specialises on SciFi and Fantastic themes.



Mr. Kevin Lee

Founder & CEO, Redspots Creative

Kevin Lee graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a bachelor degree of business administration. He saw an opportunity in 2007 and decided to start his own business in providing all-rounded video production services to Greater China markets. In 2009, the company partnered with a listed media company, establishing the very first interactive mobile TV broadcasting platform in Mainland China - miniV.TV. With his extended knowledge in Augmented Reality, he established a Guangzhou subsidiary focusing on AR/VR technology development and application.

Dr. Nicol F.C. Pan

Associate Director of the Common Core, HKU

Dr. Nicol F.C. Pan has been teaching the Common Core course on Virtual Reality (VR) prior to taking up the Associate Directorship of the Common Core Curriculum. She has worked in the field of education with a particular focus on eLearning and its pedagogical applications for many years. In her capacity as an educational researcher and instructional designer, Nicol has worked across academic disciplines at HKU. She has also worked extensively with non-academic institutions and commercial companies in developing VR training programs, including Cathay Pacific and the Police Academy. In her current capacity as AD of the Common Core team, she hopes to continue to work with talented people from across the faculties and departments to create innovative and stimulating courses and projects that bring about a positive impact on students’ lives.

Mr. Raymond Ka Chun Mak

Co-founder and COO, Farmacy Hong Kong Limited / Executive Partner, ATLIUS Group Limited / Vice Chairman, Smart City Consortium Investment Committee / Founder & Executive Director, EntreLink / Former Senior Manager, PwC Consulting

Raymond is a young entrepreneur and politician. He co-founded FarmacyHK, aiming to enable smart city farming through new generation IoT hydroponic technology. Currently sitting in Trade & Industry Advisory Board of Government and various committees, he is committed to local start-up environment and smart city development in Hong Kong as well as Belt & Road and Bay Area initiatives.


Mr. Sanford Shing Fat Liu

Founder and CEO, Farmacy Hong Kong Limited

Sanford was the Assistant General Manager at CK Crystal Technology Ltd. He was a practising Engineer at MTRC and AECOM for many mega-projects over 15 years where he gained solid operation and execution capability. His service in transforming family business into high profit earning organisation proven his track record. With the vision on enhancing the food safety and minimising CO2 foot print, he founded FarmacyHK.
