Programme Overview
Our planet is rapidly changing, facing urgent climate and environmental challenges that significantly impact nature and human health. The Environmental Design and Analysis for Climate Change Academy introduces innovative approaches in environmental analysis and design, with a strong focus on utilizing geospatial big data, emerging technologies, and online tools.
Through a series of small projects, students will learn how to tackle environmental challenges using data analytics and computational skills. This programme is designed for high school students eager to contribute to a sustainable and healthy world by applying geospatial science, remote sensing, quantitative modeling, and evidence-based environmental design.
A distinctive aspect of the programme is its blend of lectures, tutorials, hands-on equipment trials, field visits, and interactive discussions. This approach empowers students to develop critical thinking skills essential for informed decision-making and effective climate adaptation strategies.
Learning Outcomes
Through this programme, participants will:
- Learn techniques for analyzing environmental data using public databases and cloud-computing tools such as Google Earth Engine
- Apply geospatial analytics to climate adaptation and sustainability challenges
- Develop strategies for translating scientific data and evidence into actionable environmental design solutions
- Gain hands-on experience with environmental monitoring equipment and participate in on-site field visits
- Engage in interactive discussions on climate change, environmental design, and decision-making
